Blue Valley Rec was part of KMBC TV 9's Home Alone series the first week of May. Segments included live demos and discussions regarding topics covered in our Home Alone Basics class.
Geared for ages 9-12, the class focuses on helping kids feel safe and in charge when staying home alone. Discussions include safety rules, how to recognize emergencies and first aid basics.
The class helps kids learn the importance of knowing parents' expectations and rules around the house when by themselves. Blue Valley Rec will demonstrate different rules parents may have for staying home alone - from emergency situations to regular duties and chores.
Instructors Barb Dalbey and Sharon Hammer will be on hand to help the kids through the demos. The first air time will be during the 5 p.m. news and will continue at 5:30, 6 and 6:30.
The next available Home Alone Basics class is June 11. Call 913.685.6000 for details.
