
Three dance troupes from Blue Valley Recreation were among the hundreds who took part in the regional Talent on Parade competition April 9-11 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. The troupes, comprised of girls selected from auditions, competed in three age categories. The girls will join other Blue Valley Rec dancers for the May Recitals this weekend.
In its 13th season, the tour features 21 regional competitions, including Denver, Nashville and Indianapolis, and two national finals. Three levels of competition are offered: competitive, intermediate and novice for ages 5-18. Duets, trios and group categories along with solo performances are also featured.
Blue Valley Rec's Tiny Troupe (ages 5-7) peformed "Grandpa's Farm" for third place and also received an Elite Top First Place ribbon and a special "Oh So Cute" award.

The Mini Team (ages 7-10) placed second for their presentation of "Mr. Weatherman" at the competition and also earned a Top First Place ribbon.

The Mini Troupe (ages 8-12) earned a first-place finish for "Let's Get this Party Started" in the novice division of the junior large group category for jazz/hip hop.

The girls worked on routines for up to two hours each week throughout the year and continued practicing for the May Dance Recitals. They will also perform with more than 500 other dancers in the Blue Valley Rec dance program on May 21-22 at Blue Valley Northwest High School.
