Mini Cakes

INGREDIENTS
1 box cake mix (or make your own from scratch)
1 pkg frosting (or make your own from scratch)

 

MATERIALS

Empty tin cans (yep, the ones that corn or green beans or tomato paste come in)
Can opener
Vinegar
Foil
Cookie sheet
Oven mitts

DIRECTIONS


1. Remove labels from the cans. Wash and dry. We soaked ours in vinegar to make sure all the smells were gone.
2. Cut out the bottom of the cans. The tops should already be out. :)
3. Make sure there are no rough edges around the top and bottom. 4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
5. Cover the bottom of the cans with foil. The foil does not have to go all the way up.
6. Place cans on a cookie sheet.
7. Spray the inside of the cans with cooking spray.
8. Mix the cake according to directions on box (or your from-scratch recipe).
9. Fill the cans about halfway with cake batter.
10. Place in oven (while still on cookie sheet) and bake approximately 15 minutes.
11. Remove cans from oven with oven mitts.
12. Turn cans over to release cake. You may have to use a knife to loosen the cake around the edges.
13. Let mini cakes cool.
14. Top with your favorite icing and toppings.
