Fitness Attendant/Facility Monitor

Employment Classification: part-time, non-exempt (reports to Facility Supervisor/Assistant Facility Supervisor)


Summary/Objective 
Fitness Attendants are primarily responsible for providing a clean, safe and helpful workout environment for the users of the Recreation Center, as well as aid those working out on the fitness floor. Additionally, Fitness Attendants will be responsible for cleaning assigned areas and assisting with Fitness Orientations when needed. The Fitness Attendant, when assigned to Facility Monitor, will be responsible for monitoring all open court activities, practices, and full court play for members daily.  General duties include the enforcement of all BVRC Recreation Center operating policies and procedures as well as ensuring a positive environment for members in all assigned areas. 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure a safe environment through constant circulation of the fitness floor and court areas
  • Be able to answer basic fitness questions and have extensive knowledge of the equipment and proper workout technique
  • Be available to set up any user on any piece of equipment or weight machine and properly provide spots to users
  • Complete fitness orientations
  • Clean assigned areas and equipment
  • Assist patrons with fitness class reservations and check in procedures
  • Enforce all Fitness Floor and Gym policies and procedures
  • Effectively monitor the open gym schedule ensuring proper play during games and other activities as assigned.
  • Follow the facility schedule and assist with the setup/tear down of activities, events, and programs.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary
  • Accurately complete forms including accidents, incidents, and work order requests
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees and complete tasks assigned by the Facility Supervisor and Manager on Duty

Hours: Monday-Friday, varying times between 5:00A-10:00P, Saturday, varying times between 7:00A-8:00P, and Sunday, varying times between 8:00A-8:00P ; Evening, Weekend, and Holiday work are required.

Fitness Class Instructor

Yoga, Pilates, Spinning, HIIT, Bootcamp, Tai Chi, Zumba, Small Group Training (TRX, Kettlebell, Indoor Rowing, Functional Movement, etc.), and Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, and CXWORX.

Employment Classification: part-time, non-exempt (reports to Fitness Program Coordinator)
Education/Training: 

  • At least one year of teaching experience; ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or similar certification
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Certified in field os specialty (spinning, yoga, pilates, Zumba, Pound Fit, Cize, etc.)

Skills Needed:

  • Professional and enthusiastic attitude
  • Puncuality to arrive 10 minutes prior to start of class and keep class on schedule
  • Must be able and willing to instruct specific class(es)
  • Take attendance accurately; Ensure proper use and storage of relevant equipment

Personal Trainer

Employment Classification: part-time, non-exempt (reports to Fitness Program Coordinator)
Education/Training: 

  • Minimum of two years of education in the field of exercise science or a related field plus a minimum of two years experience in a similar position or hold a Bachelor's degree in exercise science
  • Currently possess a nationally recognized  personal training certification - NSCA or ACSM preferred; Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire

Skills Needed: 

  • Ability to build and maintain a client base that contributes to departmental revenues
  • Ability to complete a client movement screening
  • Able to demonstrate correct use of all weight and cardio equipment
  • Communication skills to conduct client interviews in order to provide council on exercise recommendations
  • Positive attitude
  • Keep current with market trends
