Gold Glove

An elite youth baseball league co-managed by the Blue Valley Recreation Commission (BVRC) and Olathe Youth Baseball Incorporated (OYBI). This league is being offered for players and teams who wish to compete at a high skill level. Teams wishing to play in this league should be considered AAA or Major level with USSSA baseball. In addition, if there are enough 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U or 14U teams in the AA level who wish to play we will offer a division for these teams.
 

The Gold Glove League will offer six divisions of play for the Spring/Summer of 2011. There will be a division for players who are 9 & under, 10 & under, 11 & under, 12 & under, 13 & under and 14 & under. The age cutoff date is May 1.   

 

  • All teams must submit a completed application and a $100 application fee by Jan. 6, 2011
  • Teams are selected to play in this leauge
  • There are usually 8-12 teams per division
  • Enjoy a 14-game schedule (Monday-Thursday nights)
  • Practices begin early March
  • Games begin first week of April until last week of June
  • League rules follow USSAA tournament rules, with a few exceptions
  • Team fee is $1,600 ($100 application fee will be applied toward this fee)

2012 Bat Rule 

Over the past couple of weeks the BVRC has received an increased number of calls about the 2012 bat rule changes that USSSA has mandated for their tournaments.   The following bat rules will be in effect for the 2012 season.
 
Rec League (PreK-8):
No limitations will be in place other than no wood bats. For the 2013 season it is possible that we will implement the new USSSA bats rules for certain age groups (more information will be available by January 1, 2012).
 
Rec League (High School):
Teams must use a -3 bat in the high school rec league. No wood bats allowed.
 
Gold Glove League (9U-14U):
No limitations will be in place other than no wood bats. Participants are encouraged to follow the new USSSA bat regulations as you will be required to follow these rules for all USSSA tournaments that you participate in.  
 
BVRC tournaments sanctioned by USSSA: 
Teams must follow the USSSA bat rule.

We strongly encourage all players to start using/buying the new USSSA stamped bats since these will be used in all USSSA sanctioned tournaments starting January, 1 2012.
