Sandlot Baseball

Come join the fun at the BVRC and play a sandlot style (pick-up) baseball game for FREE! The BVRC will provide staff on each field to help direct a fun sandlot style game. This will be a fun and relaxed environment for kids to play and enjoy the game of baseball. Bring a glove/bat and come have some fun with other kids of the same age.

 Parents feel free to drop the kids off or stay and watch. Kids can wear their summer uniform or t-shirt/shorts. All grades will play machine pitch games.

TAKE Self-Defense

A living legacy in honor of 19-year-old Leawood resident, Ali Kemp, who was murdered in 2002 while working at a residential area pool. The TAKE Foundation raises awareness and gives women the self-protection skills needed to avoid becoming the victim of a violent crime. Learn basic techniques that could save your life by thwarting an attack.

Pre-registration is required. Offered in partnership with the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation in cooperation with JCPRD and Leawood Parks and Rec.


Yappy Hour

You and your furry friend are invited to a paw-ty! Join other dog-loving families and enjoy music, non-alcoholic drinks, and "yappetizers" for both humans and dogs. Doggie bags given to the first 30 registered families. Bring a bag of dog food to donate to Great Plains SPCA. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times.

Please bring a donation of dry dog food to benefit Great Plains SPCA.


Family Campout

$15 per camper (preregister using code 159018)

Enjoy a fun and memorable evening caming out under the stars. This is a great event for novice campers and families who wish to become familiar with the joys of camping without venturing too far into the wilderness. Food from 2 Guys and a Grill included, as well as donuts and orange juice the next morning. Sing campfire songs with entertainer Dino O'Dell while enjoying crafts, games, prizes, and free time throughout the event. The finale for the night will be a campfire perfect for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.

Participants must provide their own tent, sleeping bags, and camping gear. You will be required to stay within the fenced campsite area throughout the event and will be asked to speak to a staff member if you need to leave the premises. No alcohol allowed on site. Children must be supervised by a registered adult at all times. Gates are locked and supervised from 11:00P-6:00A.
