HVAC Technician
Essential Functions:

Installs, repairs, overhauls, and maintains commercial refrigeration, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Working conditions include restricted movement, extreme temperatures, intense noise, hazardous materials, lifting or carrying heavy objects. This classification typically reports to the Facilities Specialist.

Examples of Duties:

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls equipment such as compressors, air handlers, rooftop units, condensers, other mechanical equipment or electrical pneumatic and electronic components.
  • Installs and replaces all types of pumps or refrigeration equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams, or other instructions.
  • Reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid pressure and distribution in systems.
  • Tests malfunctioning systems and components using electrical, mechanical, digital, and pneumatic controls.
  • Performs planned maintenance, regular servicing, and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes, and temperature ranges.
  • Maintains records of repairs or equipment requiring future service.
  • Coordinates work schedules with other departments and shops in order to keep inconvenience to a minimum.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the HVAC or refrigeration tools, materials, and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of repair, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  • Skill in reading and understanding schematics.
  • Skill in analyzing HVAC or refrigeration malfunctions from performance and test equipment readings and determining appropriate repairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/Training:
  • Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area

License or Certification:

  • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license/evidence of insurability
  • Possession of EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $28.48 /hour

Full Time Maintenance Worker

The Blue Valley Recreation Commission is seeking applications for the position of Full Time Maintenance Worker. This position is full-time, year-round with benefits and will assist in the day to day maintenance of a 24-field sports complex. Work hours are typically M-F 6:30-3pm. Willing to work nights, weekends and some holidays are a must.

Qualified applicants must be at least 18yrs old and possess at least a high school diploma or GED. General knowledge and experience with operation and maintenance of lawn care equipment, tractors, implements, hand tools and a valid driver’s license a must.

Starting wage: $17.66/hr.
