Spring Ice Cream Cupcakes

 Here's how we made our Spring Ice Cream Cupcakes.

 

1. Get your ingredients gathered. Find colored ice cream cones (we found ours at Walmart ). Pick out your favorite cake mix and icing. (We used white for both just to make things simple.) And don't forget the toppings!

2. Preheat oven and mix the cake batter according to directions.

3. Place empty ice cream cones upright in a muffin pan. This makes them

 much easier to bake and transport. Just trust us on this one!

4. Fill the cones with batter. The amount is up to you. We filled a set 1/4 full (didn't workvery well), a set 1/2 full (worked well for the gummy worms), and a set 3/4 full (these worked the best).

5. Now comes the tricky part. Bake the cakes about 10 minutes, depending on how much batter you use. Keep checking for desired doness by sticking a toothpick in the cake and removing it. If the toothpick comes out clean, then the cakes are done.

6. Let the cakes cool. You can leave them in the tins.

7. Once the cupcakes are cool, start frosting. We colored some of our frosting for an added pop. Room temperature frosting works well with piping bags or even ziploc bags. 

8. Fill with as little or as much frosting as desired and decorate with your favorite toppings.
