Honor the legacy of Ali Kemp by joining the TAKE (The Ali Kemp Educational) self-defense class, a powerful program designed to raise awareness and teach life-saving personal protection skills to women and girls. Created in memory of 19-year-old Leawood resident Ali Kemp, who tragically lost her life in 2002 while working at a neighborhood pool, this class equips participants with the tools to recognize danger, respond confidently, and potentially thwart an attack.
Led by trained instructors and supported by the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation, Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD), and Leawood Parks & Recreation, this impactful course covers basic defensive techniques and situational awareness strategies that could save your life.
