Please register at least four working days prior to the start date of class to prevent cancellations due to low enrollment. Fees are due at the time of enrollment. Blue Valley Recreation reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide classes, change dates, time or locations of classes, change instructor assignments and make other revisions as deemed necessary.

Residency Policies

Resident Participants

To receive the lower fee associated with a Blue Valley Recreation program, a participant must reside within the Blue Valley School District (BVSD) boundaries. Volunteers who exchange volunteer points for “priority registration” must also be residents of the BVSD. Discounts/priority registrations are non-transferable by volunteers.

Non-Resident Participants

Due to facility limitations, not all Blue Valley Recreation programs are available to non-residents. Please call for details on the program in which you are interested. Throughout the seasonal guide, program fees for non-residents are denoted by “NR”. Registration for non-residents begins the Wednesday following Monday’s resident registration.

Wait List

If a class has met its maximum enrollment, patrons have the option to add a name to the wait list. Wait list entries can be made for up to three classes per program session. In the event of an opening, a staff member will contact individuals on the wait list to fill the opening. If an individual accepts enrollment from the wait list, his/her name will be removed from all other wait lists in the associated program session. Patrons cannot be enrolled in a program and be on a wait list for another section of the same program.

Team Sports

Participants must sign up during the registration window specified for each sport. Early registration is necessary in order to secure a place on a team, and for Blue Valley Recreation to secure facilities, coaches and officials for the number of registrants.

Children Attending Classes

Due to liability and distraction issues, children are NOT allowed to attend adult programs with parents or other adults. Siblings of program participants are not permitted in the teaching or game area.

Code of Ethics

Parents of children participating in Blue Valley Recreation programs agree, in signing registration forms, to demonstrate good sportsmanship by serving as positive role models, exhibiting sportsman-like conduct at games, activities, practices and at home, and giving positive reinforcement to the children and support to the child’s coach or instructor.

To Participants & Parents of Participants with Serious Allergies or Other Health Problems

If you or your child suffers from serious allergies, including those that might be life-threatening, diabetes, asthma or any other health-related problem that may be affected by the presence of allergens in the area or program that you or your children may participate in, you need to understand the role of Blue Valley Recreation Commission and its staff and your responsibilities.

It is your responsibility to notify both the Blue Valley Recreation and your instructor or coach if a participant is severely allergic to any medication, foods, bee stings or other matters that can be aggravated by the presence of certain foods or substances with which you might come into contact in a program, or if you are diabetic, asthmatic or suffer from similar types of health conditions that might cause you to have health-related problems while participating. While the Blue Valley Recreation will use reasonable efforts to avoid having you or your children come in contact with substances to which you or they may be allergic, despite such efforts of avoidance, accidental contact with or ingestion of substances to which you or they may be allergic which may trigger severe reactions, including anaphylactic shock, may still occur. Notification to the instructor/coach/volunteer is critical so that they understand what may be the problem so they might be able to provide assistance that they are capable of providing within Blue Valley Recreation’s guidelines.

The most important aspect of the management of participants with severe allergies is avoidance so it is necessary for Blue Valley Recreation to know of any foods or substances which you or your children should avoid. Your children should be advised and aware of all of these substances so that in the event that they might come into contact with such substances, they will be able to avoid contact or ingestion of any of those substances.

Blue Valley Recreation will post notices where certain foods, such as peanuts are sold, but to be fair to others, Blue Valley Recreation cannot cease selling these products. However, Blue Valley Recreation has made the decision to stop selling peanuts in the shell.

Most programs of Blue Valley Recreation are staffed by non-medically licensed personnel. Medically licensed personnel generally are not available to assist you or your child. Therefore, it may be necessary for you to accompany your child if he or she has a serious allergy or similar health-related problem. The participant may wear Medic-Alert bracelets detailing any allergies or other significant health problems so that emergency personnel will be better able to understand the health problem and be able to provide treatment for it. Since Epinephrine and/or insulin is a prescription drug, you or your child will need to administer the medication. Generally, the only thing a non-medically licensed staff member can do is to call 911 unless other specific arrangements have been made with the participant and his/her parents or guardians pursuant to an individual management plan. No staff member or volunteer shall administer any insulin, Epinephrine or other prescription drug or injectable unless he/she is properly trained pursuant to an individual management plan. Your cooperation and assistance is essential to protect yourself as a participant and/or your children participating in Blue Valley Recreation programs. Your understanding, communication as to your or your child’s health issues, and your participation in the management of those health conditions is imperative.

Participant Waiver

I understand that the program for which I or my child intends to participate may have some inherent risk of injury because of the activity. As a participant (or on behalf of my child), I agree that Blue Valley Recreation and Blue Valley School District representatives and their employees shall not be held responsible for any illness or injury to person or damage to property resulting from participating in a Blue Valley Recreation program. I further grant permission for Blue Valley Recreation to use my (or my child’s) photo or video for promotional purposes. This wavier and agreement shall be in effect 365 days from the date of execution. Registration is not valid without signature. Parents must sign for children 18 and under entering a program.
