To create stewards of baseball and softball by representing the Royals Way

Kansas City Royals Amateur Development System

Blue Valley Recreation has partnered with the Kansas City Royals to be a steward of youth baseball and youth softball as a Crown League member in the Royals Amateur Development (RAD) System. The initiative improves and enhances participation in local youth baseball and softball leagues.

 

As a Crown League member, Blue Valley Rec patrons can access resources for coaches, parents, and players through RAD’s website. Coaches can view practice plans and drills while also having access to various coaching courses. Parents will be able to view information on sportsmanship, TED Talks and sports medicine. Players can watch current Royals players wishing them luck for the upcoming season (Click Here).

  • Austin Cox
    • A left-handed pitcher and 2018 5th round pick out of Mercer University. He made his Major League Debut in 2023 and holds an MLB record for most batters faced to start a career without surrendering a hit with 33 batters faced.
  • Bobby Witt Jr
    • Currently the starting shortstop for the Kansas City Royals. He was a 1st round pick of the Royals in 2019. Last season he was a part of the 30/30 club which is 30 homeruns and 30 stolen bases in a season.
  • Carter Jensen
    • Carter is a local Kansas City kid, graduating from Park Hill High School in 2021, before being drafted by the Royals in the 3rd round. He is currently a catcher in High A Quad Cities. He also was a participant in the NKCA Baseball League when he was younger.
  • Daniel Lynch
    • A left-handed starting pitcher that was drafted in the first round in 2018, Daniel made his Major League debut in 2021. One of his best starts of his career occurred last season on June 20th when he went 7 innings, only allowing 1 hit.
  • Michael Massey
    • Massey is currently on the IL with the Royals but prior to his injury was slated to be the starting 2nd baseman for the team this season. Massey was a 4th round draft pick of the Royals in 2019 and made his major league debut in 2022. Massey has been consistently praised for his fielding ability throughout his career.
  • Tyler Tolbert
    • Tyler is currently with the Triple A Omaha Storm Chasers as an infielder but has the versatility to play outfield as well. He was a 13 round draft pick of the Royals in 2019 and was the 2023 Northwest Arkansas Naturals (AA) Player of the Year.
