Looking for a fun way to get outdoors and spend time with friends and family, all for free? Give disc golf a try!
Blue Valley Recreation, in conjunction with the Blue Valley School District, offers a free disc golf course in Overland Park. With 18 holes across a variety of terrain, Blue Valley of Kansas Disc Golf Course is the perfect place to spend your day.
Disc golf is played just like traditional golf, but with flying discs rather than golf clubs and balls. Each time you throw a disc, it counts as 1 stroke or point.
You should try to complete each hole with as few strokes as possible. Our disc golf course in Overland Park has a sign at each tee with the hole’s par to tell you about how many strokes you should aim for.
You successfully complete the hole when your disc comes to rest in the basket or the chains. If you are playing competitively with friends or family, the player with the least amount of strokes wins at the end of the course.
There are a variety of discs available designed for specific courses and shots, from midrange discs to drivers to putters. Experienced players know that the right disc makes a difficult throw so much easier.
Having a set of discs may make you a more competitive player, but you don’t need specialized equipment to have fun. You can enjoy yourself at our disc golf course in Overland park with a regular frisbee.
The player who had the least amount of strokes on the previous hole will tee-off first. Once all players have thrown from the tee, the player furthest away from the hole starts off the next round.
Our disc golf course in Overland Park has a variety of terrain to offer players a fun and challenging experience! As you work through the course, you’ll navigate wooded areas, climb some moderate hills, and make shots through open prairie.
The Prairie Pass disc golf course is perfect for beginners and seasoned players alike. It combines 2 courses in one, with “standard” and “advanced” teeing pads available for 12 of the 18 holes. The “advanced” pads add length and obstacles for players looking to build their skills.
Here are some reminders to help everyone enjoy their experience on our disc golf course. Always give park guests the right of way before throwing a disc, and always stay aware of your surroundings while in the park. If there are other players ahead of you on the hole, wait to throw your disc until the hole is clear.
