Tips
To understand the game, think of pickleball as a mix between tennis, table tennis, and badminton. First, you’ll use a solid paddle to hit a wiffle ball over a low net. Most games are played in a doubles format, which helps reduce the amount of running and keeps the game accessible for all skill levels. Whether you’re in it for friendly fun or a bit of competition, playing pickleball in Overland Park offers an exciting experience for everyone!
Pickleball Court Tips for All Skill Levels
At Blue Valley Rec, our pickleball courts welcome players of all skill levels. To make the most of your experience and improve your game, we recommend playing with others at a similar level whenever possible.
When the courts are full, we use a paddle stacking system to keep things fair and organized. First, stack your paddle to signal that you’re ready to play and to reserve your spot in line. Then, once it’s your turn, you’ll play a game to 11 points or until a 15-minute time limit is reached—whichever comes first. After that, rotate off to give the next group a chance to play. This way, everyone stays active, engaged, and part of the fun!
