The Blue Valley School District recently appointed Ted McBride to serve a four-year term as a commissioner from the northwest district for the Blue Valley Recreation Commission. McBride started his term this fall and is assigned to the Community Relations, Facilities, and Programming Committee.
McBride has been a resident of Blue Valley for 22 years and is active in the area. Throughout the years, he spent time on committees at Harmony Elementary School, Harmony Middle School, and Blue Valley Northwest High School. Along with volunteering his time for educational organizations, he also serves as a substitute teacher in the district. Outside of school functions, McBride is the vice president of the Nottingham Forest South HOA Board of Directors.
“Blue Valley Rec is fortunate to have Ted as a commissioner,” said BVRC Executive Director Shane DeWald. “His commitment to the community aligns with BVRC’s values and his experience on committees will benefit the Commission.”
McBride recently retired from the information technology profession and had been looking for more ways to add value to the community. Blue Valley Rec seemed the perfect fit as his family has enjoyed BVRC activities for years. His kids took swim and gymnastics lessons when they were elementary age and followed by participating in sport leagues. Now, the family has a membership to the Rec Center @ Hilltop. The experiences help McBride understand first hand how important recreation is to all of the Blue Valley families and the rest of the community.
“We love our community and it is an honor to serve as a BVRC Commissioner working to ensure the longevity of these great facilities in our community,” said McBride.
