Colleen Browne has been appointed as a new commissioner to the Blue Valley Recreation Commission by the Blue Valley School Board. She will start her four-year term at the August 18 meeting held at the Blue Valley Rec Activity Center.

Commissioners are volunteers who have a passion for enriching the lives of residents through recreational activities, fine arts, sports, enrichment and much more. The seven-member Board serves as a policy-setting board for the organization. They meet monthly and serve on committees comprised of staff and patron liaisons from the community.

Browne applied for the position because she wanted to give back to the community. She added “Blue Valley Rec has provided great resources for my family — husband Mike and daughters Erin and Megan.”
Browne, Human Resources and Administration Director for Water One, has lived in the Blue Valley area for 17 years. She holds a number of professional designations and is a graduate of Stanford University’s Strategic Human Resources Executive Program.
“Colleen will certainly be an asset to the Blue Valley Recreation Commission,” adds current Commission Chair Kim Galbraith. “As an established human resource professional, she serves on a number of agency boards and has many local contacts. Colleen is also familiar with Blue Valley Rec, having coached her daughters in basketball, softball and volleyball teams in their leagues.”
