Hit the Court with Youth Basketball Leagues and Camps
With leagues for grades PreK through 12, Blue Valley Rec is the smart choice for youth basketball in Overland Park. Players develop skills while competing in fun, competitive, and age-appropriate leagues on teams formed from other players in their schools. Leagues are offered year-round to fit busy schedules. Our camps provide quality instruction that help campers grow and make new friends.

Youth Basketball
Basketball helps kids build strength, improves coordination, and promotes general health.

Winter Youth Basketball (November - February)
- Grades PreK to 12
Open to all boys in grades PreK through 12th grade during 2025-26 academic year. Players must attend school within or live within the Blue Valley School District. We are committed to adhering to high standards for coaches and parents in their position as a role model to our youth.

Summer Basketball (May - July)
- Grades 2 to 8
Designed for boys and girls in Grades 2-8 (’24-25 school year). Season begins the end of May goes through July, which consists of 8 games and 1 preseason practice. This 5 vs 5 recreation basketball league will not have standings or a post-season tournament. Games are played Monday – Friday evenings. This league is team registration only.

Fall Basketball (August - October)
- Grades K to 8
Teams are formed according to grade for the 2025-2026 school year Teams will play eight games over the course of 8 weeks. The regular season will begin late August and concludes mid October.

High School League
- Grades 9-12
This league is open to Blue Valley residents only who are not a member of their high school’s basketball team. Registration opens October 15. The registration deadline is December 1.

Basketball Camps
- Ages 3 to 14
Blue Valley Rec basketball camps in Overland Park are a great opportunity to improve skills, learn a new sport, or have fun being part of an encouraging atmosphere.

Tournaments
- Grades 2 to 7
Tournament for Boys and Girls Divisions for Grades 2-7 (5v5). Open to competitive and recreation divisions, awards given to the champion and runner-up teams. Three-game guarantee.

Supports in areas requiring programming recommendations and administrative review. Composed of an odd number of members, with a minimum of three with three year terms.
- Conducts interviews and selecting coaches.
- Deliberates and acts on formal protests.
- Reviews rules, policies, post-season evaluations and surveys.
- Recommends changes for consideration by staff.
- Reviews and recommends action on special requests from parents/player concerning team changes.
- Conducts hearings on “incidents,” as defined by the Official Rules and Policies Handbook currently in effect for the particular program, and recommends appropriate actions.
