Brendan O’Grady started his term as a Blue Valley Recreation commissioner in April, filling the position left open by Mike Seitz’ departure to the Blue Valley School Board. He will serve a four-year term with the commission.

Commissioners have a passion for enriching the lives of local residents through recreational activities, sports, enrichment, fine arts, and much more. The seven-member Board serves as a policy-setting board for Blue Valley Rec. They meet monthly and also serve on committees comprised of staff and patron liaisons from the community.
O’Grady applied for the position because he wants to apply his experience as a parent, coach, and professional to maintain and improve upon programming offered by the agency. He noted, “Blue Valley Recreation is one of the things that make our community special. My children and I have benefited from their many quality programs.”
O’Grady is Vice President of Teva Neuroscience and Teva North America Brand Pharmaceuticals Group. He received his MBA from Baker University and has been recognized with numerous management and leadership awards throughout his career.
A resident of the Blue Valley area for 13 years, O’Grady coached his two sons and daughter in baseball, basketball, soccer and football. He has many personal contacts in the local youth sports arena. Leisure activities he enjoys include golf, biking, reading, and travel.
